Nature hike Finsterbach waterfalls
The Finsterbach waterfalls near Sattendorf on Lake Ossiach are one of the most beautiful family excursion destinations in the region and are still considered an insider tip. Along the perfectly developed and secured hiking trail, which leads over small wooden bridges and several hairpin bends up the southern slope of the Gerlitzen, you pass the three natural waterfalls. Fantastic panoramic views of the emerald-green Lake Ossiach open up again and again.
Lake Ossiach. At the Schleierfall waterfall, which has a free fall of 34 meters, you can feel the cool water breath on your skin. Especially on hot summer days, billions of droplets dance in the air and provide pleasant cooling.
With a bit of luck, the now rare fire salamanders will emerge from the moss and leaves. Especially in the mornings and evenings – depending on the amount of sunlight – the falling water conjures up the most beautiful rainbows. The soothing sound of the water and the protective canopy of the mountain forest are like a mystical appeal to all the senses, an almost fairytale-like experience of nature.
